DirecTV’s NFL Sunday Ticket was down again in Week 2 and football fans were justifiably livid

What used to be a yearly issue for DirecTV is now becoming a weekly problem with the NFL Sunday Ticket app down. AGAIN.

Ahead of Week 1’s NFL games, fans logged into their Sunday Ticket app to find that games either weren’t loading or were incorrectly given “blacked out” error messages. DirecTV, of course, had all offseason to get the app running and functional, so failing to do so for Week 1 was an inexcusable letdown. But hey, there was another week to get it fixed.

Well, the service evidently had not been repaired for Week 2.

Fans took to social media during Week 2’s early slate to complain that the DirecTV Sunday Ticket app was failing to load any game. Eventually, the spinning wheel would settle on a “resource unavailable” message. It looked something like this:

You had ONE job, DirecTV.

As many know, this is expected to be DirecTV’s final season as the exclusive home for NFL Sunday Ticket with Apple and Amazon seen as favorites to land the rights. This final, lame-duck season as a rights holder hasn’t given DirecTV much incentive to put out a reliable app, and NFL fans are paying the price.

They were understandably furious about DirecTV’s embarrassing failure for a second straight week.

This was how Twitter reacted

This cannot keep happening.
