Dipo Akineymi smashed through the 20-goal barrier for Ayr - as boss Lee Bullen hailed him the "find of the season."
The Championship's top scorer returned to his sensational best at Morton last night as he led United to an important three points.
Akinyemi, who was on target in the 3-1 win, has hit the major milestone with a quarter of the campaign still to go.
And gaffer Bullen believes there's plenty still to come from the man Ayr plucked from Welling United last summer.
He said: "It's a significant milestone for Dipo and one that's fully deserved.
"He is the find of the season from our point of view and he still has nine more games to go and add to that.
"But it's not just his goals - when you look at his assists for the team he can't be far off 30 scoring contributions all in.
"That's a hell of a return for a lad that was playing non league football last year and it's all credit to him for taking the opportunity - and the chance - to come up here and prove himself.
"He has a very big future in front of him and we're just delighted with the impact he's having here."
Ayr turned down an offer of £250,000 from a club in England's League One during the January transfer window to keep hold of Akinyemi.
Now they're hoping that ambition can be rewarded with a huge end to the season inspired by their talisman.
Akinyemi, Sam Ashford and Sean McGinty were on target last night as Ayr moved back up to third.
Bullen added: "At times we looked back to the Ayr United of old and the team that got us up there challenging.
"We take one game at a time but it was an important performance from the lads."
