Homes Under The Hammer's Dion Dublin 'did not expect' big surprise in Nottingham terraced home

Homes Under the Hammer star Dion Dublin visited a property in Sneinton during the latest episode of the popular BBC One show. Airing at 11.15am on BBC One on Tuesday, May 23, the presenter could be seen exploring a terraced property in the Nottingham suburb which had a guide price of just £29,000.

Dion was impressed by the property's high ceilings, outdoor space and that there was even a cellar. Looking around the two-bedroom property, he stumbled across the cellar after initially thinking he was opening a storage cupboard.

He said: "I was expecting that to be storage, but it's not, it's the stairs going down to the cellar." Once down in the cellar he explained that it was "no place for a tall fella like myself" but that it had potential.

He shared that it could just be used as storage or with a bit of work it could be another two usable rooms for the property. Local estate agent, Jon Archer, stated that once renovated with its current configurations the property could be worth £130,000 to £135,000 or be rented for £700 to £775 per calendar month.

However, he said: "I would consider an attic conversion as many locally on this street and surrounding locations have converted the attic to make a third bedroom or a second double bedroom and then moved the bathroom upstairs and then that will add value." If the new buyer converted the attic, he estimated the max price of the property would be around £150,000 or it could be rented for £825 to £850 per calendar month.

Buyer Sieef bought the property at auction for £103,5000 and hopes to spend no more than £12,000 renovating the property. He plans to keep the current configurations but install some key changes, including a new kitchen, new carpeting and he also hopes to turn the cellar into a more usable space.

Sieef has been on the show before, and met Dion at a previous property he renovated nearby. Over the course of the show, viewers were able to see the impressive changes he had made to the property in just six weeks, especially since he was still working his full time job and managing his three kids throughout.

He put up new fence panels in the garden and plans to put in a patio. He painted and decorated all the rooms in the house, installed new carpet, and installed a modern kitchen keeping a grey and white colour theme throughout to "keep it simple but solid".

The bathroom has also been retiled and completely transformed. Work on the cellar is on hold, but he has spoken to an architect who thinks he could increase the height. However, after going over budget and spending between £16,000 and £17,000 on the renovation, he plans to put it on the rental market.

The rental value was estimated at between £795 to £850 per calendar month, which Sieef described as "great."
