Diogo Jota will not be available for Liverpool's Premier League match against Norwich City on Saturday and still requires further assessment, Jurgen Klopp has confirmed.
The Portuguese striker was withdrawn from the Reds' Champions League victory against Inter Milan at half time in the San Siro with and ankle problem and left Italy wearing a brace.
The injury cast serious doubt over whether in-form Jota would be fit to face Chelsea in the League Cup Final at Wembley on February 27, but although that is still not clear, Klopp has completely ruled him out of any involvement against the Canaries at Anfield tomorrow.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference this afternoon, he said: "(He) is not available this week and still needs further assessment.
"It is something with the ligaments around the ankle, but not the ankle. Everyone saw him in the boot the other day, but we have to wait.
"For the weekend, for sure not We need further assessment.
“It's something with the ligaments around the ankle. Everything is possible. It could go quick or the other way. We have to wait but no chance for this weekend.”
