Manchester United player Diogo Dalot says the memorable Europa League win against Barcelona has offered the Old Trafford giants further inspiration for their impending Carabao Cup showdown with Newcastle United.
Goals from Fred and Antony settled the scores as United came from behind at Old Trafford on Thursday night to progress through to the last-16 where they will meet Real Betis next month. However, with a quadruple still in their sights, that is not the only important game on the horizon.
United have four chances to end their trophy hoodoo this season. First up in that respect is their Carabao Cup meeting with Newcastle on Sunday afternoon.

The final comes less than 72 hours after their midweek heroics against Barcelona which was marked with a spine-tingling atmosphere from the Old Trafford faithful. Dalot, 23, praised the impact of that partnership between the team and supporters as he draws inspiration before a trip to Wembley with honours on the line.
United have not won any silverware since the 2016/2017 season under Jose Mourinho. In addition to reaching the Carabao Cup final, Erik ten Hag and his squad are still in the FA Cup and the Europa League, while they also maintain hope in the Premier League behind table-topping Arsenal and neighbours Manchester City.
Dalot said: "I think there is no better way to go to a cup final after a result and performance like we did. I think the fans enjoyed it and we enjoyed the atmosphere, playing alongside with them.
"We made a good combination yesterday [on Thursday night], between players and fans. I think the result and performance will give us energy for the cup final."
