Dillon Danis makes “save the day” offer to fight KSI days after pulling out

Dillon Danis has offered to "save the day" by coming back to his cancelled fight with KSI, so long as the bout is made an official professional event.

Bellator MMA fighter Danis this week made waves when he pulled out of fighting the YouTube star on just 10 days' notice, with the reason from promoters being that he was "underprepared". The jiu-jitsu black belt had never boxed before and bragged of having no team just weeks prior to the event.

However, taking yet another page from his close friend and teammate Conor McGregor's playbook, Danis tweeted and quickly deleted an offer to return to the fight. He claimed that he would be willing to step back in and replace Faze Temperrr, the replacement opponent, if organisers can get the bout sanctioned by an official commission.

Misfits Boxing events, of which there have been two in the United Kingdom and one in America, are sanctioned by the Professional Boxing Association, whose bouts are not generally recognised as legitimate professional fights. Essentially, the rules are professional, with fighters wearing 10oz gloves with no headgear and competing over three-minute rounds. However, they are not recorded on Boxrec.

"I would step back in and save the day and fight KSI January 14," Danis wrote in a tweet that was deleted within minutes. "If they make it a professional boxing bout with a real commission." The PBA stage legitimate events, but in the UK, bouts must be sanctioned by the British Boxing Board of Control to be fully recognised.

It remains to be seen if Danis' offer was sincere, or if it still stands after being so quickly removed from his social media page. He had previously complained of a restrictive rehydration clause that he claimed was proposed at the last minute. Misfits boss Mams Taylor denied Danis' claim, but agreed to scrap the clause, although he still pulled out.

KSI's manager and Misfits Boxing boss Mams Taylor broke the news of Danis pulling out in a video for the Misfits Boxing YouTube channel. He said: "As you guys are aware, Mr Danis has made quite a few excuses, he signed a binding short-form contract and no material changes were ever made.

"His team, who I feel sorry for because they're very co-operative and respectful, they came and said to me, 'Dillon is pulling out of the fight'. The real reason is, from what they said to me, that he's underprepared. He has no coach, he might be struggling with weight, even though there's no rehydration, he has not been able to find a team that's going to support him to bring him into the fight.
