The owners of a West Bridgford care home have announced its closure, citing problems with recruitment and the increasing cost of living. MPS Care Group said directors had made the "very difficult" decision to shut Adbolton Hall, situated in Adbolton Lane.
The group, which owns six other care homes across England, including Highfields in Bulwell, said Abolton Hall was struggling with employing suitable staff and the increasing costs of agency staff and bills. "Heat, light and power and the increasing cost of living are placing additional strains and sadly we are now in the position of being unable to sustain the service," said a spokesperson.
The provider added that the home had 19 residents, who are being moved to the Bulwell care home which remained unaffected. MPS said it was working closely with Nottinghamshire County Council, which has allocated a social worker to all care home residents to help them settle in a new home.

"We are also working closing with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and have a robust action plan in place to ensure safe care is delivered during this transitional period," the spokesperson continued. CPS said it could not give an exact closure date but had agreed a 90 closure plan.
"We are working jointly with them to safely settle all residents within their new homes as soon as safely possible therefore I cannot give you an exact date at this time," said the spokesperson. Adbolton Hall was rated as 'requires improvement' after its latest inspection by the CQC in 2020. At the time of the inspection, the care home was providing personal and nursing care for 29 people aged 65 and over.
But it had capacity to support up to 53 people across two floors. At the time of the inspection in October 2020, the first floor was under refurbishment. The announcement of the closure only relates to Adbolton Hall.
