Diesel Steps Leaves The Catwalk To Launch A New True Wireless Earbuds

Italian fashion brand Diesel has launched its own pair of true wireless earbuds to join the other lifestyle products that the company endorses. Steve Gaudin

The consumer electronics and fashion industries take another stylish step along the road to convergence with today’s announcement that Diesel is the latest fashion brand to release its own pair of true wireless earbuds.

True wireless earbuds are a hot product right now and so Telecom Lifestyle Fashion (TLF), a licensing specialist owned by STRAX AB, has partnered up with the Italian fashion brand Diesel to launch a brand-new set of true wireless earbuds aimed at fashion-conscious consumers. I’ve been able to have a sneak peek at the earbuds, which is probably the first time in my life that I’ve been close to “trendy” when it comes to fashion.

The Diesel True Wireless earbuds are housed in a round and stylish plastic drum which doubles as a charging case. There’s a choice of black or red colourways and the famous Diesel logo is stamped with the Diesel logo on the case lid in silver lettering.

The new Diesel TWS come in a drum-shaped charging case with four LEDs on the. front to show the amount of power left in the rechargeable battery. TLF

The Diesel TWS offer a total battery life and playback time of 32 hours. You’ll get around six hours from the earbuds before they need to be popped back into the case and recharged. Charging is either via the supplied USB-C cable or, if you have one, a Qi-compatible wireless charging mat. There is a strip of four LED lights on the front of the case showing the current charging status as well as indicating the overall remaining charge.

Multi-functional buttons are provided on each earbud and provide all the usual controls for playing and pausing the music, as well as skipping and repeating tracks. The buttons can also be used to accept, reject or end phone calls. Those buttons will also summon a favorite voice assistant too.

I think it’s fair to say that these earbuds are aimed at fashion fans and that’s probably why the packaging is a little coy on the technical specifications of the earbuds. There’s nothing particularly special about them but they do come with a choice of different-size ear tips and use the latest Version 5.0 of Bluetooth. The user can choose whether to listen to music with two earbuds or maybe opt for just one earbud in case you need to take a call while you sip your espresso and eavesdrop on the fashionable people gossiping at the next café table.

As well as stylish black, the new Diesel TWS earbuds are available in striking red. TLF

The build quality of the Diesel ear buds is good but I’m a little surprised the charging case is quite so deep. If you were to slip it into the pocket of your trendy Diesel jeans, it might spoil the look. The earbuds are water resistant to IPX4, which is a fancy way of saying they can cope with a bit of light drizzle and a certain amount of humidity, but they won’t survive a dip in the pool.

The sound quality from the Diesel earbuds is perfectly acceptable although it lacks a certain amount of depth in the bass department. However, I’m not sure these earbuds are designed to appeal to serious audiophiles; they’re more of a fashion statement and I’m sure young and fashion-conscious consumers will absolutely love them.

Pricing and Availability: The Diesel True Wireless Earbuds are available now from Amazon as well as fashion, telecom and electronics retailers. They sell for $109.95 / £109.95 / €109.95.
