Didsbury pub has introduced a new DOG menu with ‘yappy meal’ and ‘paw-star martini’

With the dog population of the UK booming, it stands to reason that pubs that welcome dogs should start more actively catering for them. While many hostelries offer dog treats and even dog beer, one pub in Didsbury is going the extra mile.

The Metropolitan has now introduced a new menu exclusively for dogs. Called The Fox Inn Dog Menu, it features a range of pooch-appropriate dishes, ‘dog bowls’, ‘treat pots’ and drinks.

There’s also - prepare your best eye-roll now - a ‘yappy meal’ offering and a ‘paw-star martini’. The pub says: “We believe dogs are part of the family and it is important they are well catered for on your visit to The Metropolitan.

“Our dog menu is full of little luxuries for your four-legged friend! From doggy-safe drinks including our Paw-star Martini, and our wonderful yappy meals including Fish and Chips, this menu is sure to get tails wagging!

“So, whether you are joining us after a long dog walk or meeting up with family and friends, you can be sure there will be something delicious for you and your pup to enjoy at The Metropolitan.”

The cuisine is provided by the Sir Woofchester’s brand, based in Barrow-In-Furness, with the main dishes including the fish and chips bowl, comprising dried sprats, sweet potato fries and peas, on a bed of salmon and trout dog food.

The roast dinner dog bowl, meanwhile, is a chicken drumstick, sausage, peas and carrots, on chicken and potato dog food. ‘Treat pot’ snacks include ‘bark bangers’ (mini chicken sausages), ‘bark burgers’ (beef patties with cheese), ‘sunday roast’ (hand-baked lamb and mint bones) and ‘sleepy bones’, which are ‘relaxation treats with chamomile and valerian root’.

Drinks-wise, the Paw Star Martini is a chicken and passion fruit alcohol-free slurp, and Bark Brew is chicken-flavoured non-alcoholic dog beer.

Snacks start at £1, treat pots at £2, dog bowls at £4, and drinks at £1.50. The ‘yappy meal’ - a treat pot, dog bowl and dog drink, and the menu is available across all of the 80 Stonegate pubs.
