Did Von Miller get away with being offsides the play after Chiefs were flagged?

Kansas City Chiefs fans have found a new thing to be upset about after an offsides penalty wiped away the go-ahead touchdown in Sunday’s loss to the Buffalo Bills.

While Patrick Mahomes and others may believe the penalty was a ticky-tack call refs could have let slide, they can’t deny Kadarius Toney was lined up illegally on that second down play. So, now, some are turning their attention to third down, where they believe refs missed an offsides call on Von Miller.

Here’s the play:

The thing is, Miller isn’t actually offsides.

Former Chiefs offensive lineman Mitchell Schwartz expertly broke down the play on X, showing Miller not only in a legal position, but also getting an excellent jump on the snap. Remember, the blue line isn’t official. It’s the ball we should be focused on.

Sorry, Chiefs fans. You don’t get this one either.

To Mahomes’ credit, though, he was consistent in his message of just preferring officials let the players play when asked about Miller.

I disagree — if there’s a blatant penalty, it should be called — but I respect his commitment to the bit.
