While Taylor Swift rocked Australia in 2024 with her colossal Eras Tour, and has continued to dominate the charts with her latest projects, such as The Life Of A Showgirl, it’s been reported that the reaction to her 2025 ARIA Award win wasn’t so pleasant.
On Wednesday, November 19, a bunch of your fave Aussie musos (and some international acts) packed into Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion for the annual ARIAs.
And while the night is dedicated to highlighting Aussies and their contributions to music, the ARIAs also shares its flowers with overseas acts via its Most Popular International Artist award.
This year’s festivities featured a stacked list of nominees, including Sabrina Carpenter, Tyler, The Creator, Tate McRae, Kendrick Lamar and more.
However, in this round of awards, it was Swift who clocked the spiky trophy, but some have claimed that the pop star’s win wasn’t well-received.
Per news.com.au, the audience’s reaction to Swift’s ARIAs win was lukewarm, with Newscorp’s Kathy McCabe — who was present for the shindig — claiming that she heard “moans and no clapping” when Swift’s name was announced.
However, per the snippet below, you can hear a little bit of cheers and definitely some rounds of applause for The Tortured Poets Department songstress.

While it’s unclear if the crowd was moaning and groaning after the win, Swift stays winning, as not only is this award determined by public votes, but it’s also the fifth Most Popular International Artist ARIA Award.
Swift previously won in 2019, 2021, 2023 and 2024. In last year’s win, where she copped the trophy for The Tortured Poets Department, the singer shared a message for all the fans who voted for her.
“I just wanted to say thank you so much for this award, the fact that it’s fan-voted, that means more than anything else,” Swift shared.
You can say what you want and throw words around like “Swift fatigue”, but you can’t deny the power of the Swifties, because they will always be rooting for the country-turned-pop queen.
