Practice squad quarterback P.J. Walker may have dropped a massive hint about the status of his teammate Deshaun Watson as the Cleveland Browns prepare to take on the San Francisco 49ers. We already know Walker will start if Watson cannot go, but the veteran may have indicated he has already gotten the nod.
Jeff Schudel of The News Herald approached Walker to speak to him in the locker room. However, before the reporter could even get a question out, Walker told Schudel, “I’ll talk to you guys tomorrow.”
It seems quite rare that a practice squad quarterback would have a formal media session scheduled unless there were expectations placed upon that quarterback. More answers will come out today when the Browns officially take the practice field, but it is beginning to seem like Walker has been informed that he has the green light against the 49ers.
The Browns enter this week against perhaps the best team in the NFL quite beat up outside of the injury to Watson. It appears they may be extending their bye week.
