Newly-minted Married At First Sight (MAFS) groom Luke Fourniotis has responded to speculation that he forgot his wedding rings on purpose for the plot.

ICYMI, Luke and Mel Akbay were one of two couples to be reality TV hitched on Tuesday night’s episode of MAFS, alongside Gia Fleur and Scott McCristal.
However, their wedding was marred by the farmer’s tardiness, which came as a result of his forgetting one of the most important parts of tying the knot: the bloody rings.
With Luke — alongside his sisters — hauling arse back to the house, the bride was left to walk down the aisle without a groom waiting for her. Eventually, he did show up, but it was clear that Mel had gotten the ick by his lateness.
OFC, with this being one of the major talking points of Tuesday night’s episode, some fans speculated that the stunt was done on purpose to spice things up.
Did Married At First Sight‘s Luke Fourniotis forget the rings on purpose?
Reflecting on the incident to PEDESTRIAN.TV, Luke insisted he did not intentionally forget the rings, calling stunt rumours “ridiculous”.
“Forgetting the rings on purpose is like shooting yourself in the foot,” he laughed before recalling the chaotic morning of his wedding.
“I just feel like I wasn’t really too sure of the protocol, and there was so much going on that day. I had my sisters, [and we were] up like six or something and it was just something I looked over.
“The ironic thing is I packed this bag of everything that I might need for the wedding and it had about 10 items in there like cologne, deodorant, hair products and chewing gum and stuff and I forgot the rings.”
Did MAFS producers intervene with Luke and Mel’s wedding?
If you were wondering why the producers didn’t ask Mel to hang back while Luke scrambled to the altar, the Victoria-based groom also admitted that he “never really found that out”.
“I mean, it’s kind of one of those things now where it’s happened, and I’m glad that that episode is done now, and I want to move past it,” he told P.TV.
“I never really even thought that, that seems like such a basic question.”
Welp, there ya have it! Unfortunately, the bloke was just out of his mind and forgot those darn rings.
On the positive side, the MAFS marriages are NOT legit when it comes to the legalities.. So, if things work out between him and Mel, he’ll have the opportunity to recreate the magic with the rings.
