It's only been a few days since Fortnite Ranked Season Zero kicked off, but the mode in both Battle Royale and Zero Build has been disabled. But that's not the only issue.
Update: Fortnite Ranked has been re-enabled but players aren't happy with their placement following the reset.
Original story: Fortnite Ranked was first rolled out in May with update 24.40, but a Ranked reset in update 25.10 marked the launch of Fortnite Ranked Season Zero – and the death of Trios. The patch went live on the regularly scheduled Tuesday, but an update from the Fortnite Statues Twitter account confirmed that it's already run into trouble.
"We’ve temporarily disabled Ranked Battle Royale and Ranked Zero Build while we investigate a crashing issue," it tweeted, just hours after the Fortnite downtime had ended and update 25.10 had been deployed. "We’ll provide an update when Ranked is available again. Thank you for your patience."
Things have gone from bad to worse, with another tweet notifying players that Epic Games is aware of players reporting that they're unable to log in, saying it'll provide an update when it has more information.
"It’s says checking for update and it’s been like that for ages," complained one user on the Fortnite subreddit. Another chimed in to add that it's the same on PS5, so if it seems likely that PC and Xbox players are also having trouble. The log in issue still seems to rampant judging by the subreddit activity.
There has been an update over on the Fortnite Ranked Season Zero side of things however; but it's not a good one. It seems that Ranked has gone from being temporarily disabled in the wake of update 25.10, to being "disabled again" with the Fortnite Twitter account possibly suggesting that it had made a brief comeback earlier today. But who knows.
The removal of Fortnite Ranked Battle Royale and Ranked Zero Build hasn't dampened the playerbase's spirits though. In fact, it sounds like people are glad to be rid of it.
"Ranked is so unbelievably bad just bring back arena," said one player on the subreddit. That sentiment seems to be shared across social media in response to Fortnite Ranked not working. However, plenty of players have the solution to fix it. Bringing back Siphon.
When Arena was still a thing, Siphon let players get health or shield for eliminating opponents. Fortnite Ranked has stepped up to fill the position in the competitive playlist, so Epic's choice has been something fans are against, generally speaking.
With Arena gone and no Siphon in Ranked, it makes sense that the community is clamouring for its return. Especially in light of of the rocky launch of Fortnite Season Zero.
