Diablo 4’s ‘heavy metal’ Warlock class officially revealed

After being rumored for weeks, Blizzard officially announced Diablo 4’s eighth class, Warlock, during the franchise’s 30th-anniversary spotlight showcase. Warlock is the complete opposite of Paladin, an anti-hero ‘heavy metal’ class wreathed in chain and flames that uses forbidden knowledge to weaponise demons and powers of hell.

The reveal was followed by an almost three-minute-long Warlock cinematic trailer showcasing three different versions of the class in action, as it’s also coming to Diablo 2: Resurrected and Diablo Immortal.

Here’s the official description for Warlock on Diablo 4‘s website:

“Feared, hunted, and misunderstood, Warlocks are masters of forbidden knowledge who bend demons and the powers of Hell to their unbreakable will. They do not serve Hell, they weaponize it. Through relentless discipline and iron resolve, Warlocks tear open the veil between worlds, binding demonic forces to protect Sanctuary by wielding the very corruption that threatens it.

When to expect more details on Diablo 4’s Warlock class?

Sadly, the Diablo 30th-anniversary spotlight didn’t provide gameplay footage of the Warlock class in Diablo 4. However, Blizzard has confirmed a developer update for March 2, 2026, at 2pm PST / 10pm GMT / 11pm CEST, where you can expect a deep dive into the Warlock class.

In the meantime, you might want to check out Warlock in Diablo 2: Resurrection, which is available now. It’s the first new class update the game has received in 25 years. D2’s Warlocks specialize in three different kinds of magic. These are demonic bindings, eldritch weapons, and arts of chaos.

As cool as these abilities sound, unfortunately, Warlock in Diablo 2: Resurrection is part of the new $25 Reign of the Warlock expansion, which also includes new terror zones, colossal ancients, and items, among other things. It’s worth noting that Diablo 2: Resurrection is now available on Game Pass Ultimate & Premium, but doesn’t include the aforementioned expansion.

Diablo 4 Lord of Hatred is shaping up to be a massive expansion, with two distinct class additions, sprawling new Skovos region, multitude of endgame activities, game-changing QoL features, and more.

During the 30th-anniversary spotlight, Blizzard also showcased some of the new additions in the upcoming expansions, including endgame features such as the War Plan, Echoing Hatred, and Horadric Cube.

Diablo 4 Lord of Hatred arrives on April 28, 2026, for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
