Di'Shon Bernard names three Manchester United players he hopes to emulate

Di'Shon Bernard has said he hopes to emulate the likes of Jesse Lingard, Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood and become a regular first-team player for Manchester United.

Bernard is currently thriving out on loan with Hull City and continues to make a name for himself as an up-and-coming defender.

An impressive display in the FA Cup against Everton this showcased his talents, as he played the full 90 minutes and extra time against the Toffees.

Hull are having a mixed season in the Championship but Bernard has been a standout in defence.

Bernard made his senior United debut under former United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the Europa League in November 2019, losing 2-1 to Astana, alongside youngsters Ethan Laird, James Garner, Greenwood and others.

And speaking on that experience and who he looks up to at Old Trafford, Bernard named three academy graduates that have shown him the pathway to the United first team.

“I was over the moon as it was a dream come true to make my debut for Manchester United," he told World Football Index. "I just wish someone had warned me about how cold it would be in Astana. It was freezing on the night.

“My debut for the club is something that I will cherish forever and it meant a lot to me to make my debut alongside many of the teammates that I grew up with in the academy.

“Jesse Lingard captained the side that night and he came through the academy at the club as I have.

“Players like him, Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood show you that it is possible to become a first-team footballer at the club if you work hard and show the correct attitude."
