Fans are eagerly anticipating the upcoming Dexter prequel series, Dexter: Original Sin, which offers a glimpse into the early life of the iconic character. Paramount+ and Showtime recently unveiled a series of stills from the show, showcasing Patrick Gibson as the young Dexter Morgan.
The images depict Gibson in character, with one shot showing him deep in thought in a stadium setting, hinting at the inner workings of his mind. Another still captures him in a chilling moment as he stands over a restrained body on a gurney, embodying the infamous serial killer persona.
Christian Slater portrays Harry Morgan, Dexter's father, while Molly Brown takes on the role of Dexter's sister, Debra Morgan. The prequel is set 15 years before the original series, following Dexter's evolution from a Miami student to a vigilante killer in the '90s. Guided by his father, Dexter develops a code to target only those he deems deserving of death, all while navigating a forensics internship at the Miami Metro Police Department.
In addition to the main cast, Original Sin features actors such as Patrick Dempsey, James Martinez, Christina Milian, Alex Shimizu, and Reno Wilson. Sarah Michelle Gellar will make a special guest appearance as Dexter's new boss at the police department.
While an official release date for Original Sin is yet to be announced, the first season will consist of 10 episodes and will be available for viewing on Showtime and Paramount+. The original Dexter series, which aired from 2006 to 2013, garnered critical acclaim and multiple award nominations.
Clyde Phillips, the showrunner and executive producer for the first four seasons of Dexter, has returned to oversee the prequel. Phillips has been vocal about his disappointment with how the original series concluded, expressing a desire to bring the story back on track.
