A beach in South Devon, just a couple of hours from Bristol, has been likened to the Amalfi Coast while also being crowned the 'best beach in the UK'. Condé Nast Traveller magazine awarded the top spot in its list to Blackpool Sands - an idyllic beach located in a sheltered bay and surrounded by cliffs.
It's already a popular destination for families, swimmers and those looking for an ideal place to sunbathe. Condé Nast Traveller has also described the beach as being "almost reminiscent of the Amalfi Coast", DevonLive reports. In addition to its clear blue waters - where you'll no doubt spot many a swimmer, kayak and paddleboard - the beach also boasts a number of amenities, including showers, changing rooms and a beachside cafe.
Blackpool Sands sits close to the popular tourist town of Dartmouth and is named after the village of Blackpool nearby. Not to be confused with the Northern seaside resort on the West coast of England, Devon's Blackpool Sands is a Blue Flag beach and has even won awards for its cleanliness in the past.

Dogs are banned on the beach and in the cafe and car parks during the bathing season (April 1 - September 30, 2023). What's more, Blackpool Sands is also known for its stunning natural surroundings, including the nearby woods and hills, which offer numerous more opportunities for adventures, hiking and exploring.
Visitors can also take a walk through the nearby nature reserve or along the South West Coast Path, which offers panoramic views of the coastline.
And when it comes to staying in the area, the Dart Marina Hotel comes highly recommended, with those staying at the hotel given the ability to access a nearby harbour, spa and restaurant. While the Gara Rock Hotel in Salcombe, another recommendation, also offers 'staggering cliff top views', with the Harbour Beach Club offering a 'steps-from-the-sand location'.
