Developers behind 93 homes plan for Ayrshire village give public chance to quiz them

People in Coylton will get the chance to grill the people behind plans for nearly 100 new homes in their village.

Ayr-based Viga Homes has targeted a parcel of land to build a total of 93 new homes in Lochfergus Crescent.

It’s the Ayrshire village’s fourth big planning application since November.

Now the public will be given the chance to quiz the developers over the 93 homes proposals at two public presentations.

The first one will take place at the Claude Hamilton Hall, on Tuesday, April 18, between 10am and 6pm.

The second event will take place on Tuesday, May 23 with a time to be confirmed, although Coylton Community Council will make residents aware via their social media page.

A statement on Coylton Community Council’s Facebook page said: “The Coylton Community Council are aware of various concerns raised by residents. We would urge anyone who does have concerns to attend these events.

“In addition, the Community Council are always on hand to help with any enquires which can be relayed to the appropriate bodies.”

The Viga Homes application for 93 homes involves a new residential development and associated infrastructure works- including landscaping.

And sketches show 93 units built in nine phases with “four to six different house types,” generally single storey bungalows with a “mix of detached and semi-detached” properties.

This application comes on the back of three separate planning applications to build in the village since November.

Back in November, Ayrshire Live told how a total of 53 houses will be developed at Manse Road, made up of 40 private homes and 13 affordable homes.

At the time there were five objections to the proposals, but despite this, it was green lighted.

And in December we told you how plans were in place for 176 static caravans on land at Woodhead Road.

Montgomery Forgan Associates, the firm behind the plans, requested a ‘change of use of agricultural land to form a holiday lodge style caravan park’, which would also see associated drainage, access road and site infrastructure included in the plans.

The proposals sparked numerous objections, mainly over environmental and infrastructure concerns.

And earlier this year we brought you the news that a proposal to build 11 villas in the village’s Hole Road area prompted objections from concerned residents.

Viga Homes are also behind the Hole Road proposals, which is just a stone’s throw away from Lochfergus Crescent.
