Atomfall developer Rebellion shared a new gameplay trailer for its upcoming game that gives players a deep dive into a Fallout-like world.

The trailer lasted around five minutes and showed eager fans the world that they will be exploring in Atomfall. Some people who were able to play a preview of the game at Gamescom 2024 said that it is one of their most highly anticipated titles.

Atomfall Gameplay Trailer

Some people have argued that Atomfall feels a lot like Fallout but is instead set in the United Kingdom but still has its own unique qualities that make it distinct. It able to separate itself from Bethesda Game Studio's highly popular series.

One of the main factors for this is that Atomfall was actually inspired by real-world events that happened during the 1950s. The upcoming game also is not totally post-apocalyptic based on the footage from the latest trailer, according to Insider Gaming.

Atomfall lets players explore and try to survive inside a "quarantine zone" by themselves. The game also encourages freedom and urges players to take on a multifaceted approach.

This lets you make use of your wits as well as the game's fundamental mechanics to overcome various challenges.

Rebellion's upcoming title will be coming to PC and modern generation consoles in March 2025. It will also be available on Xbox Game Pass on day one, which is a massive boon for subscribers of the service.

Inspired by Real-World Events

The primary event that is featured in Atomfall happened in 1957 when a fire broke out in the reactor core of Windscale.

It became known as one of the worst nuclear disasters on record but unlike Ukraine's Chernobyl, the area around it was never evacuated, Dual Shockers said.

The main objective of players diving into Atomfall will be to uncover the truth behind the nuclear disaster. The game starts out as having you participate in a routine investigative mission that later goes haywire due to the many secrets hidden within the quarantine area.

The British Army dispatched a unit following the disaster to uphold law and order within the quarantine zone. This is the Protocol Force that has spent the last five years working without receiving any external assistance.

Atomfall also has guns that players can use but while everything is functional, they are rather scrappy, janky, and generally unrefined.

Another feature in the game is a crafting system that lets you make things like bandages and molotov cocktails, according to PCGamer.
