The family of a 12-year-old boy who died suddenly at home two years after his mum's death have paid tribute.
Layth Maumoniat, who was a Year Seven pupil at Allerton High School, passed away this week in Leeds, West Yorkshire.
His tragic death sparked an outpouring of grief at school where staff were seen crying in the corridors.
Layth's devastated family said they are struggling to come to terms with his death.
Layth’s aunt told The Sun : "His dad is not in a good place at all, he is devastated.
"Layth would come here every day to break his Ramadan fast. Poor kid, he had too much going on in his mind.
"His mum took her own life two years ago. We are all devastated."
Staff members were seen crying in the corridors and hallway of the school after learning of the death, eyewitnesses told LeedsLive.
There has been an outpouring of grief on social media for the boy, along with many sending their condolences to the family.
A spokesperson for Allerton High School confirmed they were told the student had died, but "haven't heard anything else" since then.
They added: "All we can confirm at the moment is that a young student, a year seven student, has died."
A Leeds City Council spokesperson added: "The death of Layth Maumoniat is extremely sad and we offer our sincere condolences to his family, friends and everyone else who knew him.
"We are working closely with the school to ensure staff and pupils are supported through this difficult time."
An inquest is set to be opened into his death.
