The devastated family of missing Reece Rodger have insisted they won’t give up the search until they find him. Dad-of-two Reece, 28, was last seen by pals who thought he was in his tent at Loch Rannoch, Perthshire, at 11.30pm on March 18.
The alarm was raised the next morning when he was nowhere to be seen. His partner Paula Airzee and mum Glenda appeared on Vanished: The Hunt for Britain’s Missing People, presented by Dan Walker, on Thursday night to make a further appeal for help to find Reece.
Paula said: “We’ve searched and searched for miles and miles up there and there’s no sign of him, no sign of any of his belongings, nothing. We need answers, it's just gone on too long.”
His devastated mum added: “We’re not going to give up until we find him.
“He’s just a lovely boy - if you didn’t like him I could say there is something wrong. He gets on with everybody and he’s willing to help anybody - this is just out of character.
“He dotes on Paula and those two boys, he really does. He’s built a home for them and he will work seven days a week, I couldn’t ask for a better son, I’m so proud of him. At the moment we’re a broken family because we can’t find him and it’s frustrating.”
A major search was launched for Reece, involving Police Scotland's Air Support Unit, the Dive and Marine Unit, police dogs and Mountain Rescue Teams but no trace has been found.
Reece's loved ones have set up a Facebook page 'Please Help to Find Reece' in a bid to gather as much information as possible.
Speaking of the last time she spoke to her partner, Paula said: "It was about 20 past 11, I was actually working in a pub and it was busy and I couldn't really hear him, he was just asking me if I was alright, just normal conversation.
"In the morning I got a message from one of his friends asking if he was home. On Sunday night I still did think he was going to walk through the door. If something bad hadn't happened to him, he would be home."
Reece's two sons have also been asking questions about their dad's whereabouts, with Paula admitting she has told them he is away on a fishing trip to put their mind at ease.
She said: "Every time someone comes through the door my son's like 'that will be my dad' or he will say 'just text him and tell him he's been away fishing for too long, tell him to come home'.
"So I need answers for them as well, I need to tell them something because they miss their dad, we all miss him."
Reece is described as 6ft, of medium build with dark hair. When last seen he was wearing a black long-sleeved t-shirt with distinctive white letters on both sleeves spelling out – MA STRUM, black jogging bottoms and black wellington boots.
If you have seen Reece, or have any information, no matter how small, please contact the police on 101 with reference number 1348 of Sunday, March 19.
