Monkey Man marks Patel's directorial debut and centers around a mysterious character known as 'Kid' seeking retribution against corrupt figures responsible for his mother's demise. Described as 'John Wick in Mumbai,' the film underwent a significant transformation under Peele's guidance.
During an exclusive interview at SXSW, Patel recounted the serendipitous turn of events that led to Peele's involvement. Patel expressed his astonishment upon receiving a call from his agents at CAA, informing him that Peele had taken notice of his work and wished to engage in a conversation. Subsequently, a three-hour discussion ensued between Patel and Peele, solidifying their partnership.
