The details are now out on the new two-year agreement between the Carolina Panthers and kicker Eddy Piñeiro.
Per Spotrac, the deal is worth a total of $4.1 million. The 27-year-old is set to collect $2.25 million in guaranteed money with a $1.09 million signing bonus.
Piñeiro will earn a base salary of $1.01 million in 2023 and $2 million in 2024. His cap hits for those campaigns will be $1.55 million and $2.5 million, respectively.
The Panthers brought back Piñeiro, who entered the offseason as an unrestricted free agent, after a standout 2022. He booted through 33 of his 35 field goal attempts and 30 of his 32 extra point tries.
His 94.3-percent conversion rate ranked second amongst all qualifiers in the NFL this past season. Piñeiro was also named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week for his efforts against the Seattle Seahawks on Dec. 11.
Carolina’s decision to keep Piñeiro resulted in their subsequent move of 2021’s kicker Zane Gonzalez. Gonzalez, who still has one year remaining on his own extension, was traded to the San Francisco 49ers as part of a conditional late-round draft pick swap in 2025.
