Steven Gerrard's Aston Villa side defeated Molde 3-1 as they continued their preparation to face Leeds United on Wednesday February 9.
The game at Villa Park will be the first time Gerrard has face Marcelo Bielsa as a manager and the Villa manager has used the break in Premier League action to put his side through a couple of friendlies.
Whilst Bielsa has been content with multiple murderball sessions at Thorp Arch, their next opponents have played and beaten Brentford and now the Norwegian side.
Gerrard called on a strong team for the game, although Phillipe Coutinho was on the bench after his appearances for Brazil last week.
John McGinn, Ollie Watkins and youngster Jacob Ramsey all scored as the Midlands side took a 3-0 lead into half-time.
The game also provided a chance for January signing Calum Chambers to play his first game in a Villa shirt.
Leeds will hope to match last season's performance at Villa Park, where a Patrick Bamford hat-trick saw the Whites run out 3-0 winners in one of their most impressive performances of the season. This came during a period where Bielsa's side had been without Kalvin Phillips, as well as central defensive duo Diego Llorente and Liam Cooper.
This time around, Leeds will still be likely to have players missing after a run of injuries which at one stage saw 11 first-team players missing at the same time. However, the break has provided some respite, meaning Adam Forshaw, Junior Firpo, Jamie Shackleton and Charlie Cresswell may all have a chance of featuring. As well as those players, Phillips and Cooper have been pictured in training for the first time since they picked up hamstring injuries against Brentford in early December.
