Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Zay Jones appeared in court Tuesday morning, a day after he was arrested Monday on a domestic battery charge.
Details of the incident that led to the arrest were revealed in the police report, which was acquired by 1010XL.
“Zay was in a custody drop-off with the mother of his child, who lives in Orlando,” 1010XL host Jeff Prosser said on air Tuesday. “She doesn’t live in Jacksonville, they don’t live together. From what I understand, Zay had the child. The mother was in town to pick up the child.
“They got into an argument, a verbal argument, and during the course of the argument before it subsided, Zay reached and grabbed a piece of jewelry that he had given her that was hanging around her neck and ripped it off her neck. It left a mark, she called the police, domestic violence charges were brought.”
According to TMZ, one officer “observed several small scratches” on the woman’s neck “consistent with marks from a fingernail.”

Jones, 28, suffered a knee injury in Week 2 and re-injured the knee in his first game back in Week 5. The receiver returned to the practice field last week, but was ruled out for the team’s Week 10 game against the San Francisco 49ers.
During his court appearance Tuesday, an arraignment for Jones was scheduled for Dec. 6.
