Desperate plea to rehome 'overlooked' dog who just wants to snooze on sofa

He has been overlooked time and time again - but desperately needs a retirement home to settle down as he enters his twilight years.

Nine-year-old Tyson is up for adoption with Jerry Green Dog Rescue, in North Lincolnshire - but has received "very little interest" since coming under their care.

He has been described as a "handsome chap" who loves spending time "snoozing on the sofa" alongside his owners and going out for walks.

A spokesperson told The Mirror: "He is a super sweet old boy who can live with children over seven-years-old but wants to be the only pet."

Due to his age, he would prefer to live in an area with a low dog population.

A statement reads: *He has got a bit of arthritis which means he can get a little sore, so to make him feel a bit better, he is on some pain medication.

"But he does enjoy playing with toys in the garden, especially with squeaky toys or a ball."

The crossbreed can be left for up to four hours at a time when he is settled into his new home - and this can be built up gradually.

Jerry Green Dog Rescue has been working to transform the lives of abandoned and unwanted dogs for almost 60 years.

Founded by dog lover Jerry Green, the rescue centre opened its first site in North Lincolnshire in 1961.

Since then, another three sites have opened – one in South Yorkshire, East Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire.

This enables the dogs to move around each site if they’re unable to secure their forever home at their initial placement.

A spokeswoman said: "All dogs deserve a good life and a safe, loving home. We exist to provide a safe place for homeless dogs and to find new loving places for them to live."

They stand by the motto: "Once a Jerry Green dog, always a Jerry Green dog."
