A desperate hunt is underway for a missing 33-year-old woman who vanished on a trip with her boyfriend.
Nikki Alcaraz, from Tennessee, US, and Tyler Stratton packed up the Jeep, along with their dog, for a road trip of a lifetime to California to visit family.
But just three weeks ago she disappeared in Moriarty, New Mexico, with Nikki's family becoming increasingly concerned for her welfare.
Toni Alcaraz, Nikki's sister, told ABC: "There's a lot of possibilities that I'm scared of after not hearing from her for three weeks now."
However, there were signs of trouble when the pair reached New Mexico on May 4 after a Torrance County Sheriff's Department report showed Nikki with a black eye.
The report claims Tyler was also hit but neither of them chose to press charges - with the pair leaving the police station separately.
Nikki was dropped off at the police station in Moriarty where she called her sister for help.
"Her eye was already turning black and you could tell she was beat up pretty bad," Toni Alcaraz said.
Nikki's family alleged Tyler attacked her while they were in New Mexico just before she vanished.
Her brother Josh, told Fox 10: "He beat her up pretty badly. A truck driver had to pull him off of her, call the police, the police picked him up, took him a couple exits down and dropped him off.
"She was diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury, and a broken hand or wrist."
It led to a family friend driving to New Mexico to try and meet up with Nikki in a bid to bring her to California.
But on the day they were supposed to meet each other, Nikki told him she had to go back and find Tyler.
And on May 9, Toni received a text from her sister saying she was in Arizona and was set to continue driving to California.
"I am scared something happened to them, whether they got in another fight or if they crashed her Jeep somewhere", Toni admitted.
According to police, a licence plate reader picked up her Jeep near Arizona last month but there has been no activity on her phone, which appears to be out of service.
Brother Josh has begged for the public to look out for her sister who has not been seen in three weeks.
"We would like everybody to keep their eyes open," he said. "And if you see the Jeep, if you see him, if you see her, call somebody. Call the police[...] Obviously, worst-case scenario is very present in the back of my mind. I'm trying to hold out hope."
