Residents in Gedling are fed up and frustrated as a development of 24 homes is proposed in addition to the Chase Farm development where more than 1,000 homes are expected to be built.
The application is for 24 new homes, including two, three and four bedroom homes, on land on Lambley Lane, behind the Lambley Lane Recreation Ground. The plans are due to be decided by Gedling borough council planning committee, next week on Wednesday June 22.
Neighbours of the proposed site, say that they’re fed up with all the building going on in the area and want to know when it’s going to stop. Janet Fellows, has lived in Gedling her whole life, she told Nottinghamshire Live that the road is now like the M1 due to all the works in the area.

The 80-year-old said: “I’m fed up of all the building work. We want some peace and quiet. This road is like the M1 - It’s terrible. Big lorries going up the roads. The building - this bit here, it was a lovely quiet little lane now it’s awful.
Janet added: “What can you do about it? I just wonder when it’s going to stop all this building. It’s the third summer we’ve got to put up with. The roads have been up, the pavements have been up, it’s been complete chaos for three years.”
As well as work for the Chase Farm development going on the area, residents were also affected by work for the Gedling Access Road which is now open.
Malcolm Crockett, who is 71 and has lived in the area for the past 40 years said that he doesn’t approve of the plans. Mr Crockett said: “This road is a rat run and Lambley Lane. I know you've got to build houses but that’s green belt. It’s wildlife. There’s enough land being taken. I wouldn’t be in favour of it - they’re building more down the road.”
Another resident, Emma Gleu, 38, told Nottinghamshire Live that the area doesn’t need more homes and shows concern for the wildlife. The housewife said: “I don’t think they need anymore houses, they build them anywhere. The wildlife is being chucked around, nowhere for them to go, for them to breed. It’s a bit frustrating, I know people need houses but they don’t need to build them on every bit of land.”
A Gedling Borough Council spokesperson said: “We can confirm that we have received a planning application for the building of new homes in Gedling. The application will be presented to the Planning Committee who will make their decision based on the application, which will include any comments made from residents. The committee will consider these comments before making their decision.”
