The Design Commission for Wales has appointed Jen Heal as its deputy chief executive. A chartered town planner with a background in planning and urban design, Ms Heal first joined the commission in 2014 leading a range of urban design, planning and regeneration projects for public, private and third sector clients.
She delivered design concepts, town centre strategies, environmental improvement schemes and complex planning applications. She also co-chaired its national design review service and served as commissioner for the South East Wales Transport Commission.
In her new role, Ms Heal will lead the placemaking agenda for the Design Commission, advising on policy, supporting practice and leading the development of the placemaking Wales charter and guidance.
