Deshaun Watson ruled OUT for Week 8 game vs. Seahawks

It’s officially official. After a report earlier this morning about the uncertainty Browns quarterback Watson faces to play, the decision has been made. As reported by ESPN’s NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Browns have made a quarterback decision. Watson is out, and backup PJ Walker will make the start.

Watson’s tenure in Cleveland has been marked by controversy, horrendous play, and injury. Unfortunately for him, this is going to continue into Week 8 as the Browns travel to the Pacific Northwest to face the Seattle Seahawks.

PJ Walker has not exactly been lighting it up for the Browns, and has played rather poorly himself. But Cleveland has been winning with him under center. On Sunday, despite Walker going 15-of-32 for 178 yards and an interception, the Browns did survive a wild shootout in Indianapolis to earn a 39-38 win.

Additionally, when Walker started last week against the 49ers, he did do his part to help Cleveland deliver San Francisco their first loss of the season.

The Browns are defined by their defense, it’s easily been the backbone to their 4-2 start this season. It very likely won’t come down to the play of Walker – or Watson, if he was healthy – to determine the Week 8 game on Sunday. What will matter most is if the Seahawks offense can finally get going again, like they were against Carolina and Detroit.
