Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson has mostly been away from the team ever since he underwent shoulder surgery in November.
He attended Week 13’s match against the Los Angeles Rams, though that was an away game in the same city where Watson is rehabbing from his surgery. And per his doctor’s orders, Watson watched that game from a suite rather than on the sideline to avoid a potential collision during the game.
He won’t be in town to watch his team face the Chicago Bears in Week 15 or travel to watch them play on the road against the Houston Texans in Week 16. But there’s a chance Watson will be in Cleveland for the Browns’ Week 17 match against the New York Jets, according to Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot.
Watson will reportedly travel back to Cleveland on Dec. 23 for a charity event – the same day the Browns leave for their Week 16 game – but will still be in the area when the Browns face the Jets that Thursday night on Dec. 28. It’s unclear if Watson would watch his next game from the sidelines or a suite, but this would be the first time Watson watched his team in a home game since he left for Los Angeles.
Watson would return to L.A. after the game to continue his rehab, per Cabot.
The Browns, meanwhile, will start 38-year-old Joe Flacco under center for the third consecutive game. Cleveland will look to Flacco to lead the team to the postseason, starting with Bears this weekend.
