Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson addressed the media on Tuesday, during the team’s minicamp. During his remarks, the quarterback stated that he was was focused on clearing his name, and that he has always been “honest” and “truthful.”
The comments come as the allegations of sexual assault against the quarterback continue to rise. Two additional civil lawsuits were filed against Watson in recent days, bringing the current number of civil suits against him to 24.
Tony Buzbee, the attorney for the Plaintiffs in the civil cases, stated recently that he anticipates adding two more Plaintiffs to the cases against Watson currently pending:
Tony Buzbee tells me two more lawsuits will be filed against #Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson. Per Buzbee, one case comes as a referral from an Atlanta lawyer. The second saw the HBO Real Sports coverage and came forward. @WEWS

Beyond the additional lawsuits, Watson was also the focus of explosive and harrowing reporting from Jenny Vrentas of the New York Times. Vrentas outlined how Watson met “at least 66 women for massages over a 17-month period.” The article also indicates that the Houston Texans assisted Watson in making appointments, as well as providing him with nondisclosure agreements.
That reporting prompted Buzbee to indicate that the Texans would also be named as Defendants in the ongoing cases in coming days.
Watson was asked by the media on Tuesday about the New York Times article, and offered this response:
Deshaun Watson was asked if the NY Times report of at least 66 massage therapists is accurate. He says "I don't think so," but later adds that the question should be directed to his attorneys.
