Derry Girls star Nicola Coughlan on becoming more confident with her style

Nicola Coughlan has opened up on how she has built her confidence and is now able to embrace her own style.

The Derry Girls actress is currently starring on the hit Netflix series Bridgerton - with one of her biggest fans being TV reality star Kim Kardashian.

The 35-year-old who has hit the headlines not only for her acting skills but also her fashion choices and she now has her very own stylist.

Nicola's striking Met Gala and the BAFTA TV Awards look made headlines around the world and at the time she said: "Good at times like this to remember I used to work in a Spar."

In a new interview with Vogue, the actress opened up about her designer handbags and how she has a shelf for her "babies".

Nicola said: “When you work hard for something, it’s a real sense of achievement."

Speaking about sunglasses, she added: “I’m still in the Rachel Zoe and Nicole Richie-era of sunglasses...

“My stylist always tries to get me in small ones, but I’m not Kendall Jenner enough to pull them off!”

The star has previously responded to negative comments by those who criticised her looks and admits when playing Penelope Featherington in Bridgerton, her love for fashion grew.

Nicola told Vogue: “I think I used to be quite intimidated by [the industry], it sort of robbed me of confidence.

“I thought, I really enjoy this, so why am I not bringing it into my real life?"

She later added: “If I feel good, then everything else is irrelevant. Other people don’t have to like the looks – that’s totally fine.”
