And Coughlan later confirmed that she is on a project with Gatwa but that it is not Doctor Who. Gatwa revealed that he will be working on Barbie alongside his co-star Emma Mackey in spring this year.
He took to Instagram to share images including actor's chairs with his and Mackey's names printed in pink. The Sex Education star captioned the post with, "Come on Barbie, let's go party...".
The Barbie film is set for release on July 21, 2023. Greta Gerwig will be directing the movie and has also co-written the script alongside her husband, Noah Baumbach.
Actor Ryan Gosling will also star in the film, playing the role of Barbie's boyfriend Ken. The film has also been rumoured to have multiple versions of Barbie and Ken with other A-listers being considered for roles.
