As council candidates for parties across Northern Ireland are unveiled, we are beginning to see a clear picture of who will seek re-election and who is preparing to stand down.
One prominent councillor who will not be seeking re-election this year is Derry and Strabane's Deputy Mayor, Angela Dobbins.
SDLP Councillor Angela Dobbins has represented the Ballyarnett ward for 11 years and is standing down so that she can look after her health.

Cllr Dobbins said: "It has been an honour and privilege to represent the people of Ballyarnett on our council for over a decade and to serve for the last year as Deputy Mayor of our city and district.
"It has been an incredible journey with some fantastic highs and many achievements that have made a difference for people here.
"During my time on council I have tried to provide a voice to the ordinary people in my community who I have lived and worked alongside all my life.
"I have particularly enjoyed my role as Deputy Mayor, attending many events across the area and enjoying the festivals we have to offer.
"I received the party’s backing to contest the upcoming local government election, but unfortunately have decided to stand down to look after my health following recent medical challenges. It is a decision I have not taken lightly."
Many of Cllr Dobbin's colleagues have also spoken out after her announcement to stand down.
Mark H Durkan MLA said: "My long time colleague and friend, Angela Dobbins, has announced that she is stepping down from Council.
"This hasn't been an easy decision for Angela but she has been through the wars a bit lately and has decided not to stand for re-election in May.
"Angela has been an SDLP Councillor for 12 years, representing the people of Ballyarnet with determination and distinction."
Fellow SDLP Councillor Brian Tierney said: "I’ve had the privilege to work alongside Angela Dobbins for the best part of a decade. I’ve seen firsthand her passion and commitment to the people of Ballyarnett.
"It’s extremely unfortunate that she will not be contesting the election in May and she will be a big loss to council.
"Angela has always been a trusted colleague who always had your back but more importantly she is a good friend."
