Derry City are set to add to their squad this week with the on-loan arrivals of Ireland Under-21 international Ollie O’Neill and Ipswich Town winger Matt Ward.
Attacking midfielder O’Neill, whose last gasp winner against Sweden 15 months ago was crucial to Ireland reaching the Euro 2023 play-offs, is heading to Foyleside from Fulham.
He has seven goals and six assists in 12 appearances for the Cottagers’ Under-21 side so far this season and is highly rated by the Premier League side.
Ward, meanwhile, is a right-winger who last November made his first-team debut for Ipswich Town in their FA Cup win against Buxton.
Candystripes boss Ruaidhri Higgins is building a formidable squad ahead of this season’s League of Ireland Premier Division title challenge.
They face four-in-a-row chasing Shamrock Rovers this Friday night in the President’s Cup.
