Derry City have offered their condolences to manager Ruairí Higgins after is brother, Kevin, passed away aged just 48.
Kevin passed away this week in Sweden, where he lived. It is understood that he died suddenly.
Earlier today, Derry City released a statement in which they send condolences to the Higgins family.
The statement reads: “All at Derry City F.C. would like to pass on our condolences to the Higgins family on the sudden passing of Kevin Higgins, brother of first-team manager Ruaidhrí.
“The family have asked for privacy at this time. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.”
Dundalk, who Ruaidhrí Higgins played for between 2015-2016, also released a statement sending their condolences to the Higgins family.
The statement reads: "Everyone at the club would like to send our condolences to the friends and family of Kevin Higgins, the brother of our former player and assistant manager Ruaidhrí, who has sadly passed away. May Kevin rest in peace."
Ruaidhrí Higgins took over as Derry boss in April 2021. Last season, the Candystripes finished second in the league and beat Shelbourne 4-0 in the FAI Cup final.
