Derry City Football Club have a special treat in store for fans attending tomorrow's home match against Shamrock Rovers.
Local band Ventura Highway, made up of members Don Clarke, Martin Sweeney, Martin Mullan and Paul McGowan, have produced the new anthem "DCFC" for their home team as a thank you for all the much-needed years of football entertainment.
Excitement builds towards tomorrow night as this new anthem will be debuted as the much-loved Derry City team take to the pitch in the Ryan McBride Brandywell Stadium.
Martin Mullan, who wrote “DCFC” and is also a Director of Derry City FC, said that the band are excited to give a little back.
He said: "We wanted the fans to be involved so we were delighted when Karen Pyne, Supporters’ Liaison Officer got members of the Brandywell Pride onboard to help sing the chorus. It’s a song that I hope the fans will like."
Band member Martin Sweeney said: "We are just four ordinary guys loving music and loving football and this song gives us both."
Don Clarke and Paul McGowan said: "The buzz around the Brandywell is very exciting. This song is a great way to give something back and keep the good vibes going at the club!"
The band would like to thank everyone that helped produce the song and promotional video that can be viewed on the Derry City website from tomorrow (Friday) afternoon.
Ventura Highway wanted to wish Ruaidhri Higgins and the Derry City Team 'they love so well' all the best in this new season.
The CD of "DCFC" will be available to buy in the next few weeks and all proceeds will be donated to the club.
