Sam Todd has completed a move to Derry City ahead of tomorrow’s Europa Conference League clash with HB Torshavn in the Faroe Islands.
The centre-back, 25, moves from UCD having previously been on the Candystripes books.
The Donegal man was in City’s academy before breaking into the senior team in 2017 but joined Finn Harps before earning a scholarship at UCD.
Derry boss Ruaidhri Higgins said: “We’re delighted to bring Sam back to the club and he has gained really good experience at this level over the last couple of seasons.
“We have quality players in our defence and Sam will definitely add to our options in that area of the pitch, with a busy second half of the season coming up.”
Todd is relishing a second opportunity at the Brandywell club and said: “I left Derry to try to get more first team football.
“Funnily enough my only senior appearance the first time around was in a Europa qualifier.
“I’ve played with Shane McEleney and Ciaran Coll at Harps and played against Mark Connolly a few times.
“I obviously know Ronan Boyce well and have seen Cameron McJannet and the others like Ben Doherty too; so I know the quality that’s there.
“As well as working with them I’m ready to learn from them too and I can’t wait to get started.”
