Derrick White has been a crucial piece for the Boston Celtics this season. When the Celtics first traded for White last season, they recognized his potential where many questioned the deal. While the Colorado native doesn’t have the same role or expectations as Jayson Tatum, he has excelled efficiency-wise within his role.
He has also taken on a major playmaking role, often bringing the ball up and initiating the offense. Beyond the numbers, White perfectly fits what the Celtics need. He connects the offense effectively and keeps things flowing smoothly. Despite stars like Tatum and Brown on the roster, White has seamlessly stepped into a leading offensive role when needed.
Cohost of the CLNS Media “Celtics Beat” podcast Evan Valenti recently sat down with The Athletic’s Jared Weiss to talk about White ascendance.
