This Morning's future was confirmed on Wednesday following days of drama surrounding the ITV daytime programme.
In recent weeks, the show has been surrounded by drama including the fall-out between Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, as well as a relationship he had with an employee.
Phillip, 61, dramatically announced he was leaving This Morning after intense coverage surrounding his relationship with Holly, 42, dominated the headlines.
He said: "I understand that ITV has decided the current situation can’t go on, and I want to do what I can to protect the show that I love.
"So I have agreed to step down from This Morning with immediate effect, in the hope that the show can move forward to a bright future. I’d like to thank everyone who has supported me – especially This Morning’s amazing viewers – and I’ll see you all for the Soap Awards next month."
Discussing the future of the programme on Wednesday, Dermot O'Leary said: "If it's drama you're after, then Josie will have plenty as she brings us all the colour and vibrancy from Royal Ascot.
"She'll also immerse herself with live appearances at Britain's favourite beaches, and, of course, partaking in her favourite hobby of all – rollercoaster testing!"
He added: "Add to that, the wedding dance coach Elizabeth Marbury choreographing the first dance for two lucky viewers.
"And a whole host of famous faces on hand to guide you through the summer and it'll be a season of sun, sand and see you all for summer on This Morning."
Last week, Phillip hit out at claims he was responsible for creating a "toxic" atmosphere at This Morning and insisted some members of the team had a "grudge".
He fumed: "Now I no longer work on @thismorning I am free to say this. I hope you have noticed that it’s the same handful of people with a grudge against me or the show who seem to have the loudest voice.
"This Morning IS the best show to work on, with the best people. In all the years I worked there there was no toxicity. You can listen to those persistently loud voices if you like.
"But the thousands of guests over the years, thousands of staff and crew, hundreds of presenters and contributors all know, it IS a family of wonderful, talented, kind and hardworking people."
