Dermot O'Leary laughs off Gino dig as he pays tribute to new look This Morning line-up

Dermot O'Leary laughed off Gino D'Acampo's dig on This Morning today as he praised the show's new line-up.

The show has been in turmoil for weeks after Phillip Schofield, 61, quit before admitting to having an "unwise but not illegal" affair with a young runner.

Dermot, 50, has been presenting the show with Phil's former pal, Holly Willoughby, 42, who joked she needed a drink today after celebrity chef Gino's wise crack about the Broom Cupboard star.

As he prepared to rustle up some magic in the kitchen, he said: "I was going to make melanzane alla parmigiana, with the aubergine. But apparently, I can't do anything with aubergine at the moment so I'm going to make a tiramisu."

Giggling awkwardly, Dermot moved swiftly on but later took to Instagram with a snap of him and Holly in the studio with the caption: "Always a laugh with this one and Gino!"

Gino caused more calamity on the show when he stepped in to temporarily replace Dermot as This Morning's host.

After the ad break, the restauranteur said: "Anyway, welcome back, still to come... which one, this one? It's the same thing," as he struggled with which camera to look at.

Holly, smiling politely, him: "No, red light means look at it, green light means don't."

"Well, I'm rehearsing for September when I'm going to present this show," Gino teased as the Wylde Moon guru laughed: "So I've just found out."

Meanwhile, Dermot was over in the kitchen giving his best impression of Gino, who looked horrified as the presenter said: "I can't believe this guys, how am I supposed to work with this? I'm going to make this later, I've got the recipe like my mama used to tell me."

Holly has been joined by a number of co-hosts since Phil's departure, including Alison Hammond, Craig Doyle and Josie Gibson.

Josie joined the mum-of-three when she made her return to This Morning after a two week hiatus following the drama surrounding Phil.

After asking fans in a now infamous speech if they were ok, Holly leaned in to hug Josie, who insisted This Morning was still a "family".

The Bristol-born star, who has impressed viewers and ITV bosses in the wake of Phil's resignation, is now set to be tipped to appear in I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! later this year.

According to reports, Josie is in negotiations with the producers behind the show, and could be offered £100,000 to rock up in the jungle.
