Dermot O'Leary issues This Morning 'swearing' apology as culprit confused

Dermot O'Leary was forced to issue a very swift apology over 'swearing' on This Morning, although the culprit had no idea they'd done anything wrong.

After hosting the ITV daytime programme for four successive days alongside Holly Willoughby, Dermot was reunited with his usual Friday presenting partner in crime, Alison Hammond, for the final episode of the week. The two kicked things off tucking into an array of sweets that had been put on the table in front of them, before being joined by This Morning regulars Gyles Brandreth and Sonia Sodha to talk about the day's big news stories.

The discussion saw them discuss the latest scandal surrounding former Prime Minister Boris Johnson, family tributes to the students killed in Nottingham earlier thus week and reports that Meghan Markle's podcast had been 'axed' by Spotify. The quarter then moved onto discuss a bizarre story that has gone viral on social media, about a man who faked his own death to see how many people would turn up to is funeral, before then arriving at the service himself.

Having the first word on the matter, Sonia remarked: "I have really strong feelings about this story. I think it's an awful, awful, awful narcissistic thing to do and if I was his mate, I'd be seriously p**sed off with him and would probably never talk to him again quite frankly."

Sensing Sonia had broken a cardinal daytime TV rule with her bad language, Gyles winced next to her, before Dermot interrupted to say: "Do apologise about the language used," as Sonia, convinced she was innocent of any wrongdoing asked: "Oh, what did I say?"

Dermot refused to repeat what Sonia had said and instead moved things along, before he gave his own opinion on the story, commenting: "I would be livid!" Sonia then added: "I'd feel really emotionally manipulated, because that's what it is right? Emotional manipulation. It's making you grieve someone and then them coming back from the dead."
