Dermot Kennedy concert goers urged to ‘dress appropriately for Irish weather’ as singer arrives home for 'biggest headline show of his life'

Dermot Kennedy concert goers have been urged to ‘dress appropriately for Irish weather’ this weekend - as the singer arrived home for the 'biggest headline show of his life'.

Thousands are set to flock to Dublin’s St Anne’s Park this weekend where the Giants hitmaker will play two hometown gigs on Friday and Saturday – June 10 and 11.

Speaking before the gigs, Kennedy gushed about his excitement to be back at home for the sold out shows, and reflected on his journey to getting to this point in his career.

Posting a picture of the Irish countryside, he said: “Home. I’ll play the biggest headline show of my life in my hometown tomorrow to 20,000 people.

“It has not been a smooth road to get here, and I will always fall short when I try to tell you how grateful I am. I will give you everything I have for these Irish shows.”

Meanwhile, as the location is an outdoor standing event, organisers MCD have advised concert goers to prepare for ‘rain or shine’, adding: ‘Dress appropriately for Irish weather’.

The promoters also set out a list of information ahead of the gig including advice on transport, restrictions and age limits.

Gates open at 5pm, before the show begins at 6pm with support acts James Vincent McMorrow and Sarcastic Sounds.

No queuing will be allowed before the gates open to avoid disruption to local residents.

A garda traffic management system will be in place but organisers have instructed ticket holders to get to the venue in “sufficient time” and advised patrons to use public transport or walk where possible.

They said: “Plan your route and transport route in advance allowing at least an extra 1.5hrs travel time to/from the venue.

“As traffic and parking delays are inevitable you are strongly encouraged to walk, bike, use public transportation or carpool.”

There will be no private parking facilities at the venue.

There are two entry points to the concert as seen above - the ‘Green’ entrance at Sybil Hill and the ‘Blue’ entrance at All Saints Road.

Strict age monitoring will be in place and under 16’s must be accompanied at all times by an adult parent or guardian, who must remain with them throughout the event.

Unaccompanied under 16’s will be refused entry without refund.

Backpacks, bags over A4 size, umbrellas, selfie sticks, professional cameras, flares, glass or cans and alcohol are on a list of items not permitted at the events.

MCD added: “Promoters and An Garda Síochána reserve the right to refuse admission to anyone deemed to be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

“Everyone will be subject to a search permissible under law and a condition of ticket purchase and entry.

“Additional security checks of clothing, bags and other items as determined by promoter/Gardai will be undertaken.”

Concert promoters, MCD said: “We're thrilled to be back after 2 years, having been acknowledged as one of the most severely impacted sectors due to COVID.

“Once again, we request your patience and continued support, as we work to reset our level of customer experience, queuing and onsite facilities to you our valued customers.

“Thank you for supporting our event.”

British New Wave legends Duran Duran will perform on the same stage the following evening, Sunday June 12.
