Dermot Gallagher says Brentford should not have been awarded a second penalty against Newcastle United on Saturday.
Ivan Toney had been denied by Nick Pope from the spot earlier in the game, but was afforded a crack at redemption when Chris Kavanagh pointed to the spot for a second time just before the break.
Kavanagh was made aware of an incident involving a high boot from Alexander Isak on Brentford left-back Rico Henry inside the box. After a lengthy VAR review, Kavanagh was instructed to view the incident on the pitch side monitor, before he reversed his on-field decision.

Alan Shearer slammed the VAR officials, and labelled the decision as 'terrible' on BBC Match of the Day on Saturday night. And Gallagher somewhat in agreed with the Newcastle legend, and says he was 'surprised' that the incident even went to VAR.
“It’s not a foul. I was really surprised that this went to VAR," former Premier League referee Gallagher told Sky Sports' Ref Watch.
"How many times he looked at it and I still thought that when the referee went to the screen he’d decide to stick with his decision, which was goal kick.”
Newcastle responded spectacularly in the second half to come from behind. Joelinton cut inside from the right and saw his effort take a telling deflection off David Raya, who was credited with the own goal, before Alexander Isak clinched the three points with a stunning strike
