Danny Rohl is looking more and more likely to become the new RB Salzburg manager - and Rangers have drawn up a four-man shortlist as they look to replace him.
Talks have been going on between the Austrian giants and Ibrox chiefs, with the former keen on the 37-year-old and the latter holding out for a hefty compensation package to allow their head coach to move on.
Rohl is now edging closer to quitting Rangers after less than a year in charge, and rejoining the Red Bull group where he previously worked for RB Leipzig on the coaching staff.
The Glasgow giants have drawn up a four-man shortlist from which they will pick his replacement, should the move to Austria go through, as per The Rangers Review.
Hearts manager Derek McInnes is on that list after coming within minutes of leading the capital club to a memorable title in his only season in charge.
A former Premier League boss is another name in the frame for the post, over which Rangers have been inundated with calls.
Discussions betwen RB Leipzig and Rangers have progressed over the last 24 hours and Ibrox chiefs expect the position to become clearer over the weekend.
Rohl is not pushing to leave but the chance to move closer to home and his family would hold obvious appeal.

Rangers are keen to move quickly to resolve the situation with their pre-season training due to start next week, hence the drawing up of the four-man shortlist.
It's believed they have identified experience and leadership as key qualities required as they look to move away from recent profiles.
Just last month, Rangers chairman Andrew Cavenagh insisted Rohl was the man to take the club forward.
“Danny is our coach, we think that Danny gives us the best opportunity to win the league next year,” Cavenagh said.
“We think there are two really important things that he needs, one is a pre-season and the most important one is a revamped squad.
“I don't love the word backed, I would say that we recognise that the squad needs significant change, so we intend to do that.
“Where it needs changed it is less around the talent, we have good talented players, what we need to do is look at chemistry, mentality and leadership.
“It is more those nuanced and intangible things that we really are focusing on this summer with the squad.”
