Derek McInnes has admitted Rangers fans need to see "action" after the Europa League defeat to Jagiellonia.
The full-time whistle was met with loud boos, as the result confirmed that Rangers will, at best, play Europa Conference League football this season.
They are still searching for their first win of the campaign, having scored only once from open play in their first four matches.
McInnes said: "I think the fans need to see something to get behind. And they need to see action. And they need to see a team who are better than what they were the day.
"I think there were wee moments in the four games that were mentioned. But it's nowhere near enough.
"So nobody is sitting here and asking for understanding and patience. I quite understand the frustrations of that.
"And as I said, it's been more than just these four games that the frustration starts to build."
McInnes, whose side will face St Mirren in the League Cup on Sunday, also pointed to the absence of a left-footed defender as a key issue, leading to "square pegs in round holes."

He said: "But the fans should be seeing a better performance. And we'll aim to give them that.
"It's not been the start we wanted but the intention is still to have the outcome that we wanted before the season.
"And we're still working hard towards that."
Nine players have been signed this summer, but the club pulled out of a deal to sign PSV winger Couhaib Driouech.
McInnes admitted the need for more quality additions, saying: "There are a lot of things we'd still like to get."
He added: "Yeah, there's a wee bit of square pegs in round holes again on Thursday.
"No natural left-back to play. No left-sided centre-backs. You know, that natural flow.
"There are a lot of things that we would still look to try and get.
"But I think what we saw towards the end of the game was a lot of inexperience in the team.
"And it's my job to try and help these boys perform better."
Despite the current struggles, McInnes remains optimistic, saying: "But we've got the basis of a good squad here. To get the best from them and add a few more would help."
St Mirren, who have won both of their league matches this season, will travel to Ibrox with confidence.
McInnes said of facing St Mirren: "I've watched them in the last couple of games. And obviously they've changed how they want to play this season.
"They stayed up by the skin of their teeth last season. And you have to say they've had two strong performances."
He acknowledged the challenge they will pose: "So I think they'll come here on the back of a couple of wins, having qualified for the League Cup and progressed through the group stages, and they'll arrive confident."
Looking forward, McInnes is hopeful of a positive result against St Mirren.
"We'll see who's fit and available. See if there are any new additions who can come in and help the team.
"And then go and deal with the cup tie. We could do with winning a game, getting a wee bit of confidence into the lads and bringing a wee bit more optimism back into the support."
