Derek McInnes has explained the decision to bring Kim Min-Su back in to Rangers' starting XI vs Celtic at the expense of Badredine Bouanani.

The Ibrox manager had big decisions to make in terms of personnel for his first derby clash of the season in the Premier Sports Cup quarter-final.

Fitness levels will likely play a significant part in this tie in what is always a frenetic fixture.

That's why, McInnes says, former Girona attacker Min-Su has been brought into the lineup having played more minutes he loanee Bouanani so far this campaign.

"Obviously Badredine is coming from a wee bit more far behind," McInnes told RTV. "We took the liberty to try and get him some minutes against St Mirren but we play Min-Su who is ahead of that.

"In terms of his quality and fitness and things like that. Not so much quality but certainly his fitness and match sharpness.

"They are both different types of players, both ball carriers and can hopefully give us that added threat and I think we'll see Badredine at some point today in the game. But his part will be from the bench."
