Derby County's administrators have confirmed that the club are yet to receive an approach from Everton for Wayne Rooney.
Everton are on the hunt for a new boss following Sunday’s sacking of Rafa Benitez, who became the fifth man to be dismissed by Farhad Moshiri.
The club’s hierarchy were initially exploring the possibility of bringing Roberto Martinez back to Goodison Park to replace the Spaniard.
However, a move for Martinez stalled earlier this week as the Belgium FA said they would resist letting the Catalan leave or do both jobs at the same time.

And now the ECHO understands that Everton's hierarchy are discussing the potential appointment of Rooney as the club’s next manager.
But despite Rooney being on the club’s radar, Everton are yet to make an approach to speak to the former England international.
"We are not aware of any approach from Everton regarding Wayne Rooney,” a spokesperson for Quantuma told DerbyshireLive.
"If they (Everton) were to make an approach, the administrators would expect that approach to be made to them in the first instance."
Rooney came through the youth ranks at Everton and celebrated a year in charge of Derby at the weekend as the Rams beat Sheffield United 2-0 at Pride Park.
The former Blues forward has done a remarkable job to help inspire the Rams off the bottom of the Championship despite being hit with a 21-points' deduction this season.
